API Keys Management
-------------------

<span style="color:rgb(56, 66, 72)">Admins can create and manage API keys for the entire account.</span>

1.  <span style="color:rgb(56, 66, 72)">Every user can have up to 3 active keys.</span>
    
2.  <span style="color:rgb(56, 66, 72)">There's no expiry date on active keys.</span>
    
3.  <span style="color:rgb(56, 66, 72)">When a user is removed from the account his API key is revoked, there’s also an option of specifically removing users API keys.</span>
    
4.  <span style="color:rgb(56, 66, 72)">Admins can set credit limits per user under each API, for example a user can have 10K on REST API and 10K on Batch API. Only Admins can control limits. The limits are per user and not per key.</span>

Data credits are Similarweb's currency—you pay for the actual data you receive, not just API calls.

**Example:**

*   10 domains × 5 metrics × 12 months × 2 countries = 1,200 data credits
    

Each endpoint shows its pricing in the API Reference. Use the **Request Validate** endpoint to estimate costs before running large queries.

### Can I get a refund if I make a mistake?

Unfortunately, data credits cannot be refunded. However:

*   **No charges apply** if you encounter errors (401, 403, 429, 101, 102, 103)
    
*   **Zero-value responses** are not charged
    
*   You can use the `/request-validate` endpoint (Batch API) to preview costs before executing
    

### How do I check my remaining credits?

**On the Similarweb Platform:**

### What happens if I exceed rate limits?

You'll receive an HTTP `429` error. To avoid this:

Snowflake integration instructions

The screenshots below are taken from Snowflake's latest user interface (UI), Snowsight. If you are using a different version of the UI, your account might look different.

### Step 1

Retrieve your Snowflake locator ID. This can be found on the platform’s left sidebar.

Requesting reports - Aggregated recurring tables

_To fully automate your analysis, you can request reports to be delivered to pre-defined tables within your Snowflake account. This will allow you to have fresh data sent directly to the same tables, rather than having a new table created each time you request a report. Configure your tables with Tableau, Looker, and other data visualization tools._

_After defining the table, you can use the request-report endpoint._

_The schema cannot be changed from the original table. You can change the filters: domains, countries and dates in order to update the latest data._

### Setup instructions

To access your reports securely via the S3 bucket, use the ‘Get-S3-Credentials’ endpoint to retrieve a personalized AWS access key.

**Example flow:**

1.  Use the **Get-S3-Credentials** endpoint to generate AWS credentials authorized with READ access to all files under “s3\_bucket“ and “s3\_prefix”.
    

_Note: It is crucial to save the AWS keys as you will not be able to generate them again._

1.  Request a report via the **Request Report** endpoint, use "delivery\_method": "bucket\_access". Take note of the generated “report\_id”.
    
2.  Once the report is ready, use the **Request Report Status** endpoint. Instead of the “download\_url” link, use the “S3\_path” link.

1.  Use the AWS credentials using any AWS client (e.g. awscli, boto3, etc).
    

Your report will be ready for you under the {s3\_bucket}/{s3\_prefix}/{report\_id} folder. For example, s3://web-bulk-api-reports-production-us-east-1/123414/070f4e79-5248-487e-a43ee51309610c

1.  List the files under the report path and use them as you wish.

FAQs
----

**What if I have multiple report files?** The Batch API splits the report into multiple files based on the primary key of the requested data, as detailed in the [Batch API documentation](https://developers.similarweb.com/reference/intro-to-the-batch-api-datasets).

For example, the primary key for the ‘desktop\_visits’ metric is (‘site’,’country’), and for the‘desktop\_top\_geo’ metric it’s (‘site’).

Requesting both of these in the same request will result in 2 report folders.
